A History of the Anglican Church-- Vol. 2, No. 1

The Very Reverend Roderick Andrew Lee Ford, JD., LLD, is an American Lawyer and Christian Theologian.  As a
Reformed-Evangelical Anglican (i.e., an "Oxford Methodist") he is currently the ecclesiastical Chancellor for a variety of church denominations, seminaries, and outreach ministries within the Reformed, Baptist, Presbyterian, and Methodist Church Traditions.

Mr. Ford is descended from the Ford Family of rural Suwannee County in northern Florida.  He was born near Louisville, Kentucky, but after the age of five, he was  raised in rural, Suwannee County, FL, where he was significantly influenced by "the first generation" of Fords, including his life-long mentor, Rev. Andrew Lee Ford (1913-2014) (A.M.E.), who served as the first Black member of the School Board of Suwannee County.

Mr. Ford graduated "high academic" honors from Suwannee High School; and was formally received into Christian fellowship in 1981 at Bethlehem A.M.E. Church (McAlpin, FL).  Mr. Ford also received a bachelor of arts degree in political science (magna cum laude) from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.  Mr. Ford was awarded the "Virgil D. Hawkins" full-tuition fellowship to the University of Florida's Levin College of Law, before graduating from the University of Illinois College of Law at Urbana-Champaign with the Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree.  Mr. Ford also attained a post-graduate diploma (9 graduate credits) in human resources leadership from the School of Industrial & Labor Relations (ILR) at Cornell University, and the SPHR professional designation from the Human Resource Certification Institute.

Inspired by Jewish legal and rabbinical traditions, Mr. Ford holds the honorary Doctor of Divinity (D.Div.) from the Christian Bible Institute & Seminary, in recognition of 20 years of law practice in service to the Church and civil rights advocacy on behalf of the poor and communities of color.  [See, e.g., Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, "Word of Torah: Why Are There So Many Jewish Lawyers?" The Detroit Jewish News (July 16, 2021), describing Deuteronomy 16:20, as stating "Justice, justice shall you pursue."]

Mr.  Ford is also a distinguished post-doctoral (Presidential Fellow) at the Whitefield Theological Seminary where he is a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Religion (D.Rel.) in Reformed Church Theological Interpretation.   He is currently a holder of the Doctor of Laws (LLD), an honorary degree from Whitefield

Additionally, Dr. Ford holds the Doctor of Letters (Christian Theology-- Law & Religion) degree from St. Clements University (British West Indies). However, his highest doctorate is in the degree of life and in his Christian walk of faith. Dr. Ford is the Chancellor and the American Missionary Chaplain to Bishop Emmanuel Solofoson of the Diocese of  East Africa (Madagascar) of the Worldwide Anglican Church.

A History

A basic principle of English common law is that any law is or of right ought to be according to the law of God.”

This statement is recorded in a Year Book of Henry VII’s reign (cited in A. K. R. Kiralfy, Potter’s Historical handbook to English Law [London: Sweet and Maxwell Ltd, Fourth Edition, 1958], p. 33).
